Foreclosures in Richmond Calif. for Equal Voice News and The Marguerite Casey Foundation

I was recently sent to work on a story dealing with the foreclosure crisis and the proposed use of eminent domain to help homeowners with severely underwater mortgages in Richmond, Calif.  It was a tough assignment to shoot because of the complexity of the issue as well as the challenges of shooting both video and stills.  I spent two and half days with a reporter talking to homeowners, businessmen and investors, community activists, and community leaders, trying to piece together a narrative that would allow the viewer to understand the issue as well as get a sense of the foreclosure crisis happening in and around Richmond.

Valve for WIRED.com

Last week marked the end of a three week adventure on the road starting with a road trip through Canada to Fort McMurray, Alberta for two weeks, back to Seattle for six hours to hope a flight to San Francisco to work on a project for Equal Voice News and finished off with several meetings in the Bay Area. Images from all of those projects will be coming soon, but for now, I thought I'd post a selection of imagery portraying the evolution of a video game controller.  After meeting with some of the inspirational editors at WIRED.com, I was asked to photograph the demo of the Steam controller and console at the Valve offices in Bellevue.  Despite the main man at Valve deciding not to grace us with his presence, there were still some fun things to photograph, particularly, all of the prototypes used to get to the controller that people use in front of their video game console.
