Reevaluation of Life

I decided to drive to Chicago this weekend to reevaluate some relationships in my life and walk around a familiarly strange city to take pictures and breathe a bit. Throughout life, when are relationships with people worth fighting for? When do career choices outweigh personal choices and when do you fight for something, or someone you believe in? I recently graduated college, the newspaper industry is constantly downsizing itself, and my life as I knew it had changed in more ways than I care to mention. So I am back in Chicago to figure some things out in my life, maybe make things more confusing, maybe solidify plans, maybe, maybe find a little bit of happiness and clarity that I may have lost along the way.

The FADER 47 and New West Records

Here's something I dug up. I have been thinking a lot about style lately and where I want to take my photography and thought this was appropriate. I recently did another shoot for The FADER and had a great time, shooting pictures that I like, trying to stop thinking so much. The last few months have been a big change and, in certain ways, has made me question what I want to do with my photography. I'll write more on this later when I collect my thoughts, but until the mag comes out, here are some pics. This is singer/songwriter Jason Isbell in his home in Mussel Shoals, Alabama. His album Sirens of the Ditch and past work with The Drive By Truckers is great.

The Power of Video

So I have been involved in the multimedia world for the past three years and haven't yet been convinced of the power of the video camera for print journalism until today. I have been playing around with still grabs for the past couple of weeks and am finally putting all my eggs in one basket and going out to shoot an assignment with just and HDV camera. I hopped on the bus with the mayor this morning and within two and a half hours, including shooting time, I was able to produce a product for the paper and the web.

Homeless in Nashville

Today I walked around for a couple of hours in the rain and ran into some really great homeless people. Here are a couple of pics from the day.

Open Forum

This is a small daily piece I put together for the paper here in Nashville. It was a really interesting shoot and I had a lot of fun with it. As always, comments are welcome!
