Every weekend while the rest of the city sleeps, crowds of colorfully dressed people flock to an undisclosed location to find a refuge in music, camaraderie, drugs, and sexuality. On a Saturday night in the Angeles National Forest, hundreds of people move to the sound of beats and dance with glow sticks flying through the air like they’re painting with a brush on canvas. Ecstasy, LSD, “Special K”, mushrooms, and marijuana are openly distributed for a small fee as the party rocks on through the night, undisturbed by authority of any kind. The rave scene, made popular in the ‘80’s was driven underground in the ‘90’s by increased scrutiny from the public, but may now be making a comeback.
